Veteran singer-songwriter Catie Curtis wowed an enthusiastic sellout crowd of 120 for New Song’s opening on November 16. In what felt like a magical evening, everything seemed to go right, from the smooth ticket-buying process to the crisp sound system to the delicious sweets and aromatic coffee offered by the Prince Street Café & Bakery. Autumn arrangements donated by Bedford Florist, along with flickering tabletop candles, added a warm glow to the Reed Room.
Curtis was joined onstage by songwriter and performing artist Rachel Kilgour, who presented two intimate solos and harmonized with Curtis on some tunes.
In his opening remarks, emcee Mark Zelermyer of the New Song team commented, “One of our goals has been to create community, a place where you can have your batteries recharged, be inspired, be with other people.” Mark acknowledged the many individuals who’ve worked in various capacities on the development of the New Song Music Series, which is a centerpiece of the programs created and sponsored by the Bedford Cultural District Partnership.
With this wonderful launch now past, we look forward to the next round of shows, beginning on January 18 with bluegrass favorite Southern Rail: https://www.southernrail.com/.
